How to create and configure a scenario in the Ajax security system

Ajax security system provides functionality for configuring the reaction of Relay, WallSwitch and Socket in response to an alarm, changing the security mode, or activation by schedule. The security system can be programmed to change the security mode by schedule, and the automation device can react to Button press in the control mode.

Use scenarios to automate your security system and reduce the number of routine actions. For instance, set up water shut-off in case of LeaksProtect flood detector alarm, scheduled heater activation, or automatic closing of the electric lock when arming.

To create a scenario, you need a hub with OS Malevich v. 2.8 or later, connected and active Relay, WallSwitch, or Socket. Versions of apps that support scenarios:

  • Ajax for iOS 2.13 or later
  • Ajax for Android 2.16 or later
  • Ajax PRO for iOS 1.6 or later
  • Ajax PRO for Android 1.6 or later
  • Ajax PRO Desktop 2.4.0 or later 
Only users with administrator rights in the Ajax apps can configure the scenarios.


The following types of scenarios are available in Ajax security system:

    • By Button press — the automation device is triggered by long or short pressing of Button switched to Control mode.
    • By alarm — the scenario is triggered with an alarm of one or more detectors, certain detector sensors, as well as by pressing the panic button.
    • By schedule — the scenario runs at the time set by the user. This scenario type can include both the action of an automation device or the change of security mode.
    • By arming/disarming — the automation device is triggered when user arm/disarm the group or the entire security system, or when the Night mode is activated.

 

The number of scenarios by alarm, Button press, or by schedule depends on the hardware capabilities of the hub:

Hub supports up to 5 scenarios

Hub 2 – up to 32

Hub Plus – up to 64.

At the same time, you can create only one reaction to arming/disarming per automation device. Scenarios of this type are not included in the general limit of the scenarios.

Reaction to security mode change 

 

This scenario type allows you to program the action of the automation device when arming or disarming the system, or if the Night mode is activated.

To program a reaction to security mode change:

    1. Open the Ajax app and go to the Devices tab.
    2. Click on the device needed (Relay, WallSwitch, or Socket).
    3. Go to the Settings menu by clicking on the gear icon.
    4. Go to the Scenarios menu and click Create scenario if you are creating a scenario for the first time, or Add Scenario if scenarios have already been created in the security system. 
    5. Go to the By Arming/Disarming submenu.
    6. Select the action Switch on, Switch off or No reaction in the section When arming and When disarming.
    7. Set whether the device reacts to activation of the Night mode. When turning on/off the Night mode, the device will perform the actions set for arming/disarming. A separate reaction to Night mode activation is not provided.
    8. Click Save. The scenario will appear in the list of device scenarios.
You can create only one reaction to security mode change for one automation device (Relay, WallSwitch, or Socket). Such a scenario always appears at the top of the list of saved scenarios under the name Arming/Disarming.

To delete or edit a scenario, click on it in the list of scenarios. You can also turn off the scenario, and its settings will be saved. To do this, use toggle to the right of the scenario name.

The scenario takes up the hub memory regardless of whether it is on or off.
 

Scenario by alarm

 

You can configure the response of the automation device to an alarm of one, several, or all security devices. Combined detectors have several types of alarms, and you can configure the response to all types of alarms, part of them, or to a single type of alarm. For instance, configure turning the light on if DoorProtect Plus detects impacts on the door, or close the roller shutters if CombiProtect detects a window glass break.

To create an alarm scenario:

  1. Open the Ajax app and go to the Devices tab.
  2. Click on the device needed (Relay, WallSwitch, or Socket).
  3. Go to the Settings menu by clicking on the gear icon.
  4. Go to theScenarios>menu and clickCreate scenario if you are creating a scenario for the first time, or Add scenario if scenarios have already been created in the security system.
  5. Go to the By alarm submenu.

Device selection

The device selection menu displays all detectors connected to your Ajax security system. You can sort the list of detectors by alarm type:

Intrusion
Fire
Flood

 

Click on a device to select all types of alarms available. In this case, the scenario is run if one sensor of the combined detector has triggered. For example, an automation device will trigger when CombiProtect detects movement or glass breaking.

Click on the alarm type icon to run the scenario when a specific detector sensor triggers.

Alarm type icons:

motion detection with MotionProtect, MotionProtect Plus, CombiProtect, MotionProtect Curtain, MotionProtect Outdoor or MotionCam;
door/window opening detection with DoorProtect, DoorProtect Plus;
glass break detection with GlassProtect, CombiProtect;
detection of a change in the tilt angle of DoorProtect Plus;
shock detection with DoorProtect Plus;
triggering of an external detector connected to Transmitter, DoorProtect, DoorProtect Plus or GlassProtect;
alarm by shifting detected with the Transmitter accelerometer;
wire breakage of the roller shutter detector connected to DoorProtect Plus;
triggering of the roller shutter opening detector connected to DoorProtect Plus;
pressing of Button, SpaceControl or KeyPad panic button;

 

 To run the scenario by pressing the panic button, specify the device: SpaceControl, Button or KeyPad. Running a scenario with pressing the panic button in the app is not provided.

 

threshold temperature rise detection (+59°C ± 2°C) with FireProtect, FireProtect Plus;
temperature jump detection (of 30°C for 30 minutes) with FireProtect, FireProtect Plus;
smoke detection with FireProtect, FireProtect Plus;
detection of a dangerous concentration of carbon monoxide sensed by the FireProtect Plus detector;
water sensed by contacts of LeaksProtect leak detector.

 

If any of the alarm types is not available for selection, check if the corresponding sensor is enabled in the detector settings.

 

After selecting the necessary devices and types of alarms, click Next to proceed to configuring the scenario.

Scenario settings

To configure an alarm scenario:

  1. Type the scenario name.
  2. Set the Number of the devices running the scenario. If “One” is selected, the scenario will run if at least one device triggers. If “All” is selected, the scenario will run only when all selected devices trigger.
  3. Set the Maximum actuating time for all devices. Set the time during which the devices should trigger to run the scenario. If the devices don’t raise an alarm within a specified time, the timer is reset and the scenario is not run.

    The parameter is available only if “All” is selected in the Number of devices that start the scenario.

     

  4. Set the Device Action. Set whether the automation device turns on or off when the scenario is run.
  5. Click Save. The scenario will appear in the list of device scenarios.

To delete or edit a scenario, click on it in the list of scenarios. You can also turn off the scenario, and its settings will be saved. To do this, use toggle to the right of the scenario name.

Scenario by schedule

You can set a scheduled action for both an automation device (Socket, WallSwitch, Relay), and for a security group or the entire security system. This type of scenario uses the time zone specified in the hub settings. Therefore, before creating a scheduled scenario, set the correct time zone in the hub settings — the Service menu.

Scheduled arming/disarming

 

To create and configure an arming/disarming scenario:

  1. Open the Ajax app and select the desired hub in the menu at the top of the screen. Go to the Devices tab.
  2. Select the hub from the list of devices and go to hub settings by clicking on the gear icon.
  3. Go to the Security Schedule menu.
  4. Click Create scenario if you are creating a scenario for the first time, or Add scenario if scenarios have already been created in the security system.
  5. Type the scenario name.
  6. Select Security Objects. Mark the groups associated with the selected action. If the group mode is activated on the hub, you can select specific groups or all groups at once. If the group mode is not activated, only the hub or Night mode can be selected.
  7. Select the action. Set the system arming or disarming at a specified time.
  8. Set the Execution time.
  9. Set the frequency of the scenario execution in the Repeat section by marking the days of the week. If Never is specified, the scenario will be executed once.
  10. Click Save. The scenario will appear in the list of hub scenarios.

Scheduled action of an automation device 

 

The scheduled scenario allows you to control the power supply of devices connected to automation devices.

To create a scheduled scenario:

  1. Open the Ajax app and go to the Devices tab.
  2. Click on the desired device (Relay, WallSwitch, or Socket).
  3. Go to the Settings menu by clicking on the gear icon.
  4. Go to the By Schedule submenu.
  5. Type the scenario name.
  6. Set the Device Action. Set whether the automation device turns on or off when the scenario is run.
  7. Set the Execution time.
  8. Set the frequency of the scenario execution in the Repeat section by marking the days of the week. If Never is specified, the scenario will be executed once.
  9. Click Save. The scenario will appear in the list of device scenarios.

To delete or edit a scenario, click on it in the list of scenarios. You can also turn off the scenario, and its settings will be saved. To do this, use toggle to the right of the scenario name.

Response to Button press

 

In the Control mode, Button has two pressing options: short and long (the button is pressed for more than 3 seconds). These pressings can trigger the execution of an action by one or more automation devices: Relay, WallSwitch, or Socket.

In the panic button mode, Button does not have long or short pressing options. However, it can be engaged in the alarm scenario.

 

To bind an automation device action to a long or short press of Button:
  1. Open the Ajax app and go to the Devices tab.
  2. Select Button in the list of devices and go to settings by clicking on the gear icon.
  3. Select the Control mode in the Button mode section.
  4. Click on Button to save changes.
  5. Go to the Scenarios menu and click Create scenario if you are creating a scenario for the first time, or Add scenario if scenarios have already been created in the security system.
  6. Select a pressing option to run the scenario: Short press or Long press.
  7. Select the automation device to execute the action.
  8. Type the scenario name and specify the Device Action to be executed by pressing Button.
  9. Click Save. The scenario will appear in the list of device scenarios.

 

To delete or edit a scenario, click on it in the list of scenarios. You can also turn off the scenario, and its settings will be saved. To do this, use toggle to the right of the scenario name.
