Brexit Update

The UK officially left the European Union on January 31st 2020 with a transition period lasting until December 31st 2020. From January 1st 2021 there will be some changes to shipping and billing on orders from the European Union.

Orders From January 1st 2021

Orders placed by our EU customers from 1st January 2021 will no longer be charged UK VAT. This will be reflected on website orders at the checkout stage and for orders placed via our sales team. This applies to business and individual purchasers.

We will continue to ship orders as normal via our courier partners on DAP (Delivered at Place) terms. Once your order has been dispatched you will be contacted by the courier to collect the relevant VAT charges and customs clearance fees that apply to your country. VAT registered businesses can still reclaim VAT from their own local authority.

Customers will be responsible for paying any duty or taxes that may be incurred at the point of import. Our sales team are happy to provide further information if required.

At ALD Security we are committed to continuing to provide the best possible service for our customers in Europe. We are prepared for this change in invoicing and shipping and aim to ensure a smooth transition for all orders from 2021.

EORI Number

From the 1st January 2021 we will be asking all customers to supply an EORI number at the point of order. Customers without an EORI can apply for one through their own tax authority, this is normally online and free of charge. If an EORI number is not provided orders may experience additional delays in the customs clearance process and the courier may need to contact you for clearance instructions.

What is an EORI number?
It is used by customs and other authorities to monitor and track shipments coming into and out of the European Union.
